Ornamental Features
Oriental Paper Bush has masses of beautiful clusters of fragrant white trumpet-shaped flowers with yellow throats at the ends of the branches in late winter before the leaves, which are most effective when planted in groupings. It has attractive dark green deciduous foliage. The narrow leaves are highly ornamental but do not develop any appreciable fall color. The coppery-bronze bark and brick red branches add an interesting dimension to the landscape.

Oriental Paper Bush will grow to be about 7 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 7 feet. It has a low canopy, and is suitable for planting under power lines. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 50 years or more.
This shrub does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers to grow in average to moist conditions, and shouldn't be allowed to dry out. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. This species is not originally from North America.
